3D LED cube

This school project creates a PCB to mount a 3D LED cube onto. The cube is controlled with a PIC16F877A trough multiplexing.
PCB design, etching and assembly
After drawing the schematic in Multisim, it is exported to Ultiboard to turn into a PCB. After routing and placing the board is etched ourselves from a single layer PCB. Once done, the holes are drilled and the components are soldered. The cube dimensions are derived from the PCB hole distances. The microcontroller is put in and programmed trough a PICKit programmer. By turning on each row one by one very fast trough the transistor and lighting the column LED the entire 3D cube is controlled using 6 IO lines.
